John started his sales and marketing career at age six selling door-to-door Christmas
cards. Then newspapers, and then women's shoes. (And what a school that was to learn
about compelling language and getting a close!) After completing a degree
in Finance at the University of Colorado, he became a “top producer”
for a national mortgage company.
For nearly 3 years he wrote articles for the Salt Lake Realtor magazine, and has
taught classes on marketing and finance for several licensing and training schools,
Realtor Boards, real estate franchises, universities, and colleges. His seminar
textbook, "First Aid for Finance" became a standard Realtor and
loan officer training reference. He’s achieved the Certified Financial Planner
(CFP) designation, as well as licenses in real estate, insurance, and securities
sales. In 1991 he was nominated for “Volunteer of the Year” by the National
Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) for writing their Business Plan. He went
on to earn their prestigious Certified Mortgage Consultant (CMC) designation.
John served 5 years on the Friends and Executive Boards of KUED-7, a Utah Public
Broadcasting television station, and is a graduate of the Salt Lake Area Chamber
of Commerce’s Leadership Utah program. He’s been a featured speaker
at a number of national and local mortgage lending conferences ... all on financial
services marketing and sales. For 2 years he served on the Editorial Board of Mortgage
Originator magazine.
